Bill Finney becomes partner at NOVALIA law firm
Experienced US lawyer Bill Finney joins NOVALIA after fifteen years spent in the Prague offices of two leading international law firms. Bill becomes the first NOVALIA partner qualified in the US.
“I was drawn to NOVALIA not only because the firm has interesting clients and I believed my commercial law background would be a good fit, but also because NOVALIA is designed as an open platform where all attorneys are partners and work on a project basis. I see this way of providing legal services as innovative and forward-looking. Clients receive better service and the office operates with much greater efficiency. That’s why the offer for me to join NOVALIA was extremely interesting,” Bill commented.
“NOVALIA’s focus is on innovative businesses, which often means that the the client is international or the deal has cross-border elements. Bill will strengthen our international law and English language capacity thanks to his background and years of experience in international transactions,” says Jakub Císař, NOVALIA’s co-founder.
The core of Bill’s practice is in cross border finance, real estate and merger and acquisition transactions. He helps investors and lenders assess and address the legal risks associated with their potential purchases or lending projects in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). His aim is to provide practical, commercially minded guidance.
Bill represents private equity firms and middle market private equity investors. He regularly supports a network of US based law firms that need local law advice in the CEE region.
Locally, Bill acts as a first legal resource for the commercial needs of the English speaking expat communities.
Bill is a graduate of the University of Virginia, B.A. International Relations, and the University of Virginia School of Law, J.D.
“NOVALIA sets itself ahead of the traditional Czech law firms by its innovative structure and client approach. Its internal organization has moved away from the paradigm of leverage and billable hours. All qualified lawyers are partners and they focus on what really matters for the client – great service,” says partner Pavel Marc.
